Outdoor Cooking - Propane or Charcoal? Charcoal is Hitting the Bricks in the U.S.A

    Last updated 2 years ago

The numbers speak for themselves and you can see the trend on the showroom floor at your local home improvement store. The convenience, economy and versatility of propane BBQ's make them the choice of nearly 60% of American families. Here's why.

Propane BBQ's are convenient. An average propane BBQ lights with the push of a button. It heats up to cooking temperature within about 10 minutes. You can raise or lower the temperature of the grill to suit your menu. When you are done, you shut it off so there's no waste or ash to clean up. Hands down, easier than charcoal.

Propane BBQ's are economical. A 20lb propane cylinder will burn for nearly 20 hours worth (for about $12-$16 if you bring it to us for refilling). The equivalent amount of charcoal to cook for 20 hours of grilling (direct heat for steaks, fish, veggies, pizza, etc) is about 4lbs per hour. That's 80lbs of charcoal!! If you use the expensive stuff (which is really great for fancy meals) you might need a loan to pay for the charcoal!

Propane BBQ's are versatile. When it comes to cooking a wide variety of foods, the propane BBQ simply rules the patio. It can maintain low temperatures when you want to slow-cook. It can hold a nice even temperature so you can bake bread, roast meats or veggies. Finally, a good propane BBQ can also reach the high end temperatures you'll want to sear cuts of beef or lamb. One grill. Several different ways to cook a variety of foods. Propane is again the easy choice.

At Kamps Propane, our employees are passionate about cooking, indoors and out. The long days and warm nights of summer give us the chance to ignite the flame that fires our grilling experience. If you are in the market for a new BBQ, we suggest that you buy the very best grill that you can reasonably afford. Take good care of it and it will reward you with years of service. Come see us if you need an extra BBQ propane cylinder and ALWAYS bring your empty propane cylinder to our office for a refill.

    Home Phone Number?

    Last updated 2 years ago

It's an amazing trend that speaks volumes for our love of the smart phone. The home telephone, an American invention, is fighting for it's life in a battle with the cell phone.

Are you a CPO (Cell Phone Only) household? Do you keep your home phone for emergencies but use your cell phone most of the time (CPM or Cell Phone Mostly)? Do you live in a place where cell phone  service is spotty?

Is your home phone number a part of your family history? Isn't a land-line phone one of the last pieces of emergency equipment you would want to give up?

Your Alternative Energy Solution Works in Washington!

    Last updated 2 years ago

It's common for elected officials to misunderstand the role that propane plays in our energy economy. We recently sent a team of industry representatives to Sacramento and Washington to help educate our representatives on the facts they need to understand.

    For example;

    • Propane in America is produced from the extraction of natural gas in North America. It reduces our dependence on foreign oil.
    • Propane is the immediate alternative fuel solution for vehicles - it burns cleaner than gas or "clean" diesel and it's cheaper by the gallon too!
    • We have an abundant supply of propane but we need to improve our storage and distribution infrastructure to prevent winter shortages.

Check out this video from the visit to Washington. We are working really hard to get our "friends" in Washington (who has friends in Washington???) to remember that propane is a solution for clean energy.

Not just a great way to cook a steak. Really. That's what some of those people thought.

Bonus point - first person to identify our company representative in the video get's a prize. Hint - she's awesome!

The 4th of July is such a great holiday - smack in the middle of summer with warm weather almost written into the Constitution. Some of our folks took off for a short trip to relax and enjoy the season. See if you see anyone you recognize!

No matter what you did, we hope you had a great weekend!

Celebrate Freedom - We Salute The Brave Men & Women Who Protect Us Every Day

    Last updated 2 years ago

Tomorrow there will be picnics, parades, fun and fireworks. America's annual celebration of freedom is the highlight of summer and for good reason.

Please remember to honor the dedication, bravery and sacrifices of our armed forces. Remove your hat for the national anthem. Thank the soldiers, sailors and airmen you see tomorrow. Take a moment to say a blessing for the brave patriots who are stationed in faraway places to protect us from harm.

At Kamps Propane, it's no coincidence that our logo is red, white and blue. We're looking forward to a fun holiday weekend but we'll never forget the people who fought to give us the freedom we'll celebrate.
