The longer and warmer days of June have arrived in the Sierra foothills. We see these days as the beginning of a 100 day stretch of blue skies, high temperatures and summer fun.
In Sutter Creek, the Italian Benevolent Society marks the first weekend in June with their annual Italian Picnic & Parade. It's a three day celebration of the Italian heritage that brought about the formation of the society 129 years ago in support of the Italian gold miners in the area.
You might guess that when the Italian community throws a festival it naturally becomes a popular destination for exceptional food. The Sutter Creek area is also well regarded for their production of quality wines and olive oil. Throw in live music, carnival rides and great weather and you have a terrific event! We love parades and we're easily talked into participating in festivals. If you have a great event coming up in your town let us know about it!
