You probably remember learning about fire safety when you were young. Maybe you took a field trip to a local fire station. Maybe the local volunteer fire department came to your school. However you learned fire safety, the lessons may have saved your life.
This weekend, when you turn your clock forward on Sunday morning, check your smoke detector batteries. Replace them if you haven't recently.
But don't stop there. Take a moment and visit www.FireFacts.org to help your kids learn all of the basics of fire safety. It's a great resource for learning and teaching about being prepared (with smoke detectors and knowing two ways out of your home) and dealing with fires (stay low and GO!).
Your kids may never experience a fire emergency but you have to take the time to get them prepared. It's not hard and it's not scary - spend 30 minutes teaching your kids about fire safety this weekend!
