Stockton 99 championship finale on tap for Saturday

PINE GROVE, CALIFORNIA (September 12, 2012) – Matt Scott concluded a record-setting All American Speedway NASCAR Late Model season on Saturday night, using a tenth place finish to seal the deal on his third consecutive track championship.  Scott is the first Late Model driver in track history to earn the achievement, doing so behind the wheel of his family-owned #35 Kamps Propane-sponsored Chevrolet.

During the 10 race season on the one-third mile in Roseville, CA, Scott took home three feature wins along with four second place finishes in a dominating season.  With three wins at Stockton 99 Speedway as well, Scott has now accumulated 25 career NASCAR Late Model wins by the age of 20.

"To go from being the youngest champion in the history of the track to being the first to win three championships in a row is huge," Scott said.  "I really can't stress enough how my team makes me look better than I really am and I'm having a lot of fun this year!"

A five race stretch of two wins and three second place finishes led up to Saturday's 50 lap finale, where Scott nursed home an ailing car after braking a rear axle. Scott coasted home with a tenth place finish, enough to distance himself from championship rival Chris Scribner to take the trophy.

"My team put together a great car all season and we were fast all day on Saturday," Scott said. "It just shows how good our season was that we had a big enough cushion in the points to have the axle snap and still win the championship."

With the All American Speedway championship in the books, Scott has his eyes on another piece of Northern California racing history. The 2011 MSPA Driver of the Year currently ranks second in the Stockton 99 Speedway NASCAR Late Model standings, trailing points leader Jeff Belletto by 26 points with a pair of 50 lap races on Saturday for the season finale. If Scott could defeat Belletto, he would become the first driver to win dual Late Model championships in the same season.

"We are pretty far out at Stockton but you never know what could happen," Scott said. "I've got to try to win both races. When you go out to Stockton, the competition level is insane. I've learned a lot racing side-by-side with Jeff Belletto."

Scott's season at Stockton 99 Speedway has included 11 top-fives and 13 top-tens in 15 starts. Scott has only one previous Stockton start before this season and was able to get to victory lane in his third career start on April 21st.

The historic quarter-mile asphalt oval is one of the oldest operating NASCAR weekly short tracks in the nation.

Saturday's Twin 50s at Stockton 99 Speedway can be followed live on with coverage beginning at 3 p.m. local time.
